Junior Rep

Squad Criteria

This level is for RIPPLES Club swimmers. Swimmers must attend required sessions per week with a minimum entry age of 8 years old. Swimmers MUST attend regular meets and Swimming Metro South West (SMSW) Championship events and compete regularly at club night. To get into the Junior Rep squad, swimmers will need to meet the Swimming Australia JX Bronze Standard for their age and gender. Swimmers must also be competent in completing repetitive sets of:

  • 12x50Free>60
  • 8x100Fs>1.50
  • 5x200Fs>3.45
  • 3x400Fs>7.30
  • 12x50IMO>60
  • 8x100IMO>2
  • 5x200IM>4
  • 2x400IM>8.30

The basis of this squad level is IM and aerobic work. Swimmers looking to progress to Silver and/or Gold must meet the determined squad requirements. Swimmers in Junior Rep must meet their designated squad criteria. Swimmers who are unable to meet the criteria due to injury or illness must provide a doctors or allied health professional certificate.

For swimmers to progress they must consistently demonstrate a high level of:

  • Stroke technique in 4 strokes & streamlining
  • Drill progressions 4 strokes
  • IM swimming
  • All turns & IM
  • Starts 4 strokes
  • Correct finishes
  • Pace clock work
  • Lane discipline and etiquette
  • Rules of sport
  • Club night & low-level competition
  • Punctual start times for all sessions
  • Stretching exercises
  • Training equipment – fins, board, pull buoy, paddles, drink bottle, skipping rope

Selection Criteria

  • Must be a financial member of Ripples St Marys Swimming Club
  • Must achieve Swimming Australia JX Bronze Standard for swimmer’s age and gender
  • Minimum age 9 years
  • Must attend required sessions and swim meets
